Kerala Style Phalada Payasam Recipe
Phalada Payasam is a festive dessert prepared with milk, vermicelli, sago, and rice – rich in flavor and perfect for the sweet ending to your Onam Sadya.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup vermicelli (semiya)
- 1/4 cup cooked rice
- 1/4 cup sago (sabudana), soaked and boiled
- 4 cups full-fat milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp ghee
- 10-12 cashews and raisins
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
Instructions:
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, boil milk and cook vermicelli until soft.
- Add cooked rice and sago. Stir and simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Add sugar and cardamom powder. Mix until sugar dissolves.
- In a small pan, fry cashews and raisins in ghee.
- Add the fried nuts to the payasam and mix well.
- Serve hot or chilled after your Onam feast.
